Bring the outdoors in

by Chani Grunwald @iDesign

What’s your ideal, Seaside, Mountains or Forest?

This is all about making your home feel like a holiday all year round by bringing the outdoors in.

The freedom of having a place to do exactly as we please, only acknowledging the outside world if we feel like it, in a space both removed yet familiar, is a luxury to be taken seriously.

Not everyone is given this luxury, but these ideas will help create it.

Seaside:

These beach-inspired accessories update your accommodation. Be it your Bournemouth flat, Natanya apartment, Miami villa or everyday home, these little touches will bring the outside in.

The sea is never the same. It changes colour and mood with each passing moment. The early morning hours and late afternoon hours are the most magical time, with sunrise and sunset. It’s a perfect occasion to reflect on life, spend time with your family or just be by yourself, go for a run or relax with a book. These ideas will invoke the seaside and sun-packed days. Especially in England, where we aren’t guaranteed good weather.

How cute are these for your kids’ bedrooms? Decorate any wall with this seaside, coastal, rustic, painted wood and metal wall plaque. These sailboats are carved from a wooden base, featuring metal flags that are finished with a rustic sea-worn style. A perfect addition to any nautical-themed interior.

Bring seaside vibes into your home with our gradient summer glass vases. These yellow and blue ombre vases are perfect for styling indoors or outdoors and look especially beautiful in direct sunlight.

Using the seabed as your inspiration, this coral reef wall sculpture is part of a small series of collectable clay wall art ornaments, each one with a fascinating texture of the sea and perfect for a beach house or beach-themed interior. The coral reef-inspired wall hanging was meticulously sculpted in polymer clay and can be hung from a small nail, since it is not very heavy.

Slightly pricey, as it’s entirely handmade

We love this most amazing light fixture. The ropes are height adjustable and shown here with six bulbs in the yellow-finished glow. It is perfect for above a kitchen island or above your dining room table.

And the price is attractive too!

Mountain View:

People choose the Alps as their preferred destination for winter skiing, but summer holidays are beautiful in the mountains too.

A beautiful mountain wall piece for any room in the house will always remind you of the great outdoors. Have a hiker in the family or someone who loves being in the mountains? This would make a great welcome sign for your front entrance or a beautiful addition to your guest bathroom, the kids’ rooms, a baby nursery or even an office or man cave. The mountains are calling! Personalised with whatever you like, this is the perfect wall sign for your home.

Handmade and straight from the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, this beautiful floating wooden five-peak mountain shelf, with or without snow caps, is a gorgeous addition to any rustic-themed space – perfect for nurseries, living rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms!

Lost in the Forest:

Is your dream holiday all about trees? The forest gives off the most natural colour scheme, with browns, greens and shades of flora mixed in.

From the pines all the way to the jungle, the choice is endless:

  • Straw or bark baskets to store your clutter
  • Green colours for your walls or accessories
  • Rustic oranges and terracotta, and gold lamps to bring in the nighttime feel

These are just some ideas.

These Mediterranean-inspired glazed bottle vases from Casa Verde add an instant splash of colour and summer sun to interior spaces.

The Ripley is a glass cage pendant shade with clear and grey glass panels finished with an antique brass effect trim.
